General Motors - Autonomous Vehicle Brake Controls Algorithm Engineer

This position is for a Brake Controls Algorithm Engineer working in an Electrical Components and Subsystems organization. The position will develop brake controls features for Autonomous Vehicles by performing by performing activities such as algorithm development, production software implementation, vehicle development and testing as well as feature design.

Key tasks include:

  • Design Brake Controls Feature Algorithms
  • Create Algorithm Requirements
  • Documenting Algorithm Functional and Verification Requirements
  • Implement production software code
  • Create Algorithm DFMEA
  • Participating in Algorithm Technical Review Board Meetings
  • Develop/Document/Review I/O Functional Requirements and test cases
  • Support other calibration and controls engineers
  • Develop microprocessor-based, real-time control algorithms and software in high level (C) language
  • Work with Mathworks controls modeling and code generation tools
  • Execute software test definition, execution and analysis
  • Build, check and verify a controller-target software package
  • Integration planning
  • Perform controller-target integration builds
  • Archive the build products and related files
  • Conduct/participate in work product reviews for algorithm, software, and specifications incorporating I/O functional requirements/test cases
  • Working with model, software, and hardware-in-the-Loop test methods
  • Project Management
  • Change Management
  • Process and Standards Development
 
Qualifications

  • BSME, BSEE or 4 year Computer Science degree
  • Two years of engineering experience in software writing, software validation, or software related fields
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • Ability to navigate gray space 
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
  • Ability to travel for a few weekly winter tests trips 
  • This position requires the ability to legally operatea motor vehicle on a regular basis
